Regional Coordinator for Latin America
Steve Perreault joined Perkins School for the Blind as a teacher assistant and then teacher beginning in 1978. He worked in the Deafblind program for 10 years in a variety of teaching and supervisory positions. He returned to Perkins in 1990 as Education Consultant on the parent initiative of Perkins International and became Regional Coordinator for Latin America in 1994. Mr. Perreault has more than 30 years experience in developing and implementing educational services for children and adults who are blind with multiple disabilities. From 1987-1990, he was the Coordinator of the Deafblind Services Unit at the Massachusetts Commission for the Blind.
Mr. Perreault has served as Special Advisor to the National Association of Parents of the Visually Impaired (NAPVI), the National Family Association of Deafblind, and the Charge Foundation. In Massachusetts, he has served on the board of Deafblind Contact Center, Deafblind Community Access Network, and as a consultant for the Department of Public Health.
Mr. Perreault received a Masters degree in Special Education from Northeastern University and a BA from Clark University. He also has been certified as a teacher of students with severe special needs.
